Accounting Technician III
Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our Controller department. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
  • Business associates degree with emphasis in accounting and/or at least 5 years experience in an accounting department, preferably in insurance or a related financial services industry
  • Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
  • LOMA or other insurance industry courses a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Self starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Must have hands-on PC experience, which includes a familiarity with Windows-based applications, specifically Word and Excel; familiarity with working in a mainframe environment and with accounting software; proficient 10-key skills
  • Demonstrated independent decision making capabilities
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to set priorities
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
  • Process financial transactions for multiple significant accounting financial operations
  • Administratively, play a key role in the coordination, control, and tracking of an Accounting Department’s workflow and projects, as well as training and orientating new employees
  • Perform research and analysis of accounting transactions or trends, review workpapers, reconciliation’s, and schedules at the request of Finance Department management and other internal and external customers
  • Play a lead role in the initiation, research, and implementation of PC and mainframe automation projects, software conversions, and enhancements to improve customer service and the operating efficiency of the Controller’s Department
  • Provide clear, concise, accurate, and thorough responses to internal and external customer’s questions, inquiries, and research/analysis requests, some of which may be non-routine in nature
