Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our Customer Services department. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 5 years of general life insurance, special markets and tax reporting experience
  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices, administrative procedure and full range of life and annuity products
  • At least 5 years in effective supervisory, management and budgetary oversight preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in employee selection, development, training, and performance evaluations preferred
  • At least 5 or more years of experience in medical terminology and annuity claims administration preferred
  • Ability to effectively participate in, and provide direction for, both departmental and corporate projects and procedures
  • Demonstrated independent and effective decision making abilities; experience and skill in problem solving
  • Industry courses, similar to, or those provided by LOMA and ICA preferred
  • Series 6 or ability to obtain within one year and general knowledge in full range of financial industry medium including mutual fund, sub-accounts, CDs, pensions, qualified plans, money market accounts, equity accounts, government securities, life and annuity products, administrative systems, and government/tax rules and regulations
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Guides individuals and groups to achieve desired results. Delegates by allocating decision making and other responsibilities appropriately and effectively. Develops subordinates by improving their skills and competencies. Gives performance reviews on time and takes an active role in the development of employees.
  • Accountable for the daily Fund File administration and balancing of all variable sub accounts including resolving errors before the daily wire transfer of funds. Accountable for the nightly NAV process and verification.
  • Provide input for administration of new products, maintain compliance guidelines and procedures for SEC, FINRA and internal auditors
  • Assure timely support for all variable product transactions and inquiries including administration of GMWB rider.
  • Direct the prompt, accurate adjudication and payment of legitimate annuity claims. Protect the company from fraudulent annuity claims implementing protocols and overseeing resolution in sensitive benefit situations. Direct the prompt and accurate annuity claim reporting for company financials.
  • Monitor and report agent conduct to Broker/Dealer of Sunset Financial Services and all outside Broker/Dealers
  • Direct and manage a staff of tax specialists in providing plan level administration of all tax sheltered business and tax reporting for all non-tax compliance with IRS regulations pertaining to Qualified Plans. Provide accurate and timely tax reporting to policyholders and state and federal agencies by keeping abreast of tax laws, changes and by monitoring tax systems
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient tax systems to comply with the Internal Revenue Code by maintaining the validity and integrity of data, coordinating and implementing program and system changes with all affected areas. Accurate and timely distribution of policyholder and beneficiary tax forms 1099, 1042S, and 5500 admin support, state, federal and foreign tax withholding, reporting and payment.
