The Group of Companies provides basic medical and dental
insurance to all full-time Associates. Associates are required to contribute
toward the individual premium amount. Family coverage is also available for
Associates to purchase at reasonable group rates.

|
In conjunction with the basic medical coverage, the Company
offers a prescription benefit including retail pharmacies and/or a mail order
program.
|

Flexible Spending
Account
|
|
The Company allows all full-time Associates the opportunity to
pay company-sponsored medical and dental premiums, out-of-pocket medical and
dental expenses, and child care expenses with pre-tax earnings. Certain
limitations and restrictions apply.

|
| |
|
|
|
The disability plan is designed to provide a disability income to
those Associates who have become totally disabled because of sickness or
injury. After a 30 day waiting period, the Plan will provide disability income
payments equal to 66 2/3% of the Associate’s base salary less Social Security
and/or Workers Compensation benefits. This is a noncontributory plan with the
Company paying the full cost. This leave runs concurrently with Family and
Medical Leave. Certain restrictions and limitations apply.

Cash Balance Pension
Plan
|
|
The Cash Balance Pension Plan is a retirement plan that’s fully
paid for by the Kansas City Life Insurance Group of Companies. Additionally,
this plan can act as the “cornerstone” of your retirement income. Associates
who are at least 21 years of age and with one year of service are eligible to
participate in the plan. For all participants, each year the account will be
credited with a percentage of the annual base salary determined by the
Associate's years of service as of December 31st using a pre-determined
schedule. This account will earn interest each year determined by the average
30 year treasury bond rate set in November of the prior year, with a minimum
guaranteed rate of 5.5%. Associates are fully vested in the Cash Balance
Pension Plan after three years of completed service.

Savings and Profit
Sharing Plan
|
|
The purpose of this plan is to recognize the contributions of
eligible Associates to the successful operation of the Group of Companies and
to reward such contributions by providing certain savings and profit sharing
benefits for participants on a pre-tax basis. Associates who are 21 years of
age may participate in the plan in accordance with IRS regulations.
Participants are eligible for a company matching contribution after one year of
employment. Matching contributions become fully vested after six completed
years of service.
Additionally, the Company may contribute Profit Sharing to an Associate's
savings and profit sharing account, up to 4% of an Associate’s annual base
salary, based on corporate financial results determined at the end of the each
year.

The Company provides an on-site cafeteria for all Associates
where employees may purchase a variety of lunches at Company subsidized prices.
|

Tuition Reimbursement
Program
|
|
The Company provides educational assistance to all full-time
Associates actively employed at the time of both registration and completion of
the course and subject to specific criteria and limitations.
|
|
|
| |
Employee Assistance
Program
|
|
The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential, short-term
counseling and referral service staffed by highly trained professional
counselors based at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. There is no cost for
short term counseling as this benefit is Company provided.

Group Term Life
Insurance
|
|
The Group Term Life Insurance Plan is designed to provide an
Associate’s dependents with a measure of financial security in the event of an
Associate’s death. This is a term insurance program that covers an Associate
during employment. All full-time Associates under the age of 65 are eligible
for this benefit. Certain benefit reductions apply at age 65, 70, and 75.
The amount of the benefit is equal to 2.5 times an Associate’s annual base
salary and automatically increases as the salary rate increases.
In addition to the Company provided insurance, an Associate may elect to
purchase an additional amount of Group Term Insurance. Certain restrictions
apply.

Voluntary
Accidental Death and Dismemberment
|
|
All full-time Associates under age 70 and their families are
offered the opportunity to voluntarily purchase AD&D insurance through the
Company. Certain restrictions apply.

|
| |
Business Travel
Accident Insurance
|
|
The Business Travel Accident Insurance Plan, a limited death
benefit, is an insurance plan designed to provide accidental death and
dismemberment insurance for Associates and spouses while traveling on Company
business. All full-time Associates, under age 70, are covered by this plan.
