Application Systems Manager I
Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our IT department. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • College degree or equivalent technical training
  • Seven or more years of programming experience or an equivalent skill. Proficiency in C# and familiarity with related technologies, such as ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and Azure preferred.
  • Two or more years management or project leadership experience. Experience as a Development Manager or similar role, leading and managing software development teams preferred
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge of required application programming languages and tools appropriate to the assigned platform.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the entire application environment
  • Strong technical background in .NET Core development, with a solid understanding of software engineering principles preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all insurance operations and expert knowledge of specific insurance functions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated extensive design capabilities
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide project leadership by planning, allocating, motivating and controlling project work of IT staff and other resources, on a limited scope
  • Facilitate and educate user departments by planning, coordinating, developing (design, code and test as needed) and implementing major system projects in a team environment.
  • Contribute to the improvement in departmental and operating efficiencies by participating in the development of standards and procedures and by initiating and promoting new concepts and ideas
  • Provide timely resolution of problems by comprehending complex situations and taking appropriate action.
  • Assure up-to-date technical expertise in IT by motivating, educating and guiding staff members in formalized class sessions and on large/complex projects.
  • Contribute to success of overall IT and company goals and objectives by continuously improving self and following company and IT administrative steps and procedures.
  • Manage and develop personnel to ensure that productivity is maximized, corporate and departmental goals and objectives are met, resources are properly and effectively utilized, and operational systems are functional and deliver results.
